Phineas' last will and testament is on file
in Case 802 in the Hancock County Probate Dept., in Ellsworth, Maine.
The following is a transcription of that handwritten will, dated
December 28, 1814:
Be it Remembered that I, Phinehas
Eames of Buckstown in the County of Hancock,
being weak of body but of sound and perfect
mind and memory, blessed be allmighty God;
for the same do make and publish this my last
will and testament in manner and form following.
That is to say first I will that all my just debts
be paid and my body decently buryed at the disc
retion of my Executor hereinafter named. I give
and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah the use (?)
and improvement of all my Real and personal
Estate during her natural life except as above
and Shall be hereafter given; and I order her
to maintain my daughter Abigail during the
life of my said wife, and after the decease of my said
wife I give and bequeath the one half of all my
Real and personal Estate to my daughter Abigail
for her maintenance during her natural life, and
whatever is left of said half after her decease to be
devided equally between my son Phinehas and Dau-
ghters Polly Curtis, Sally Partrige, Patty Emerson,
Hannah Higgins and Jemima Ary daughter
of my aforesaid wife. I give and bequeath to my
grandchildren, of John Eames deceased, one dollar
Each, namely William, Phinehas, John, Joseph,
Polly, Hannah & Sophy; and I will that the other
half of my Estate after the decease of my wife
aforsaid be equally devided between my
son Phinehas and Daughters Polly, Sally,
Patty, Hannah and Jemima Ary as aforsaid.
and I hireby appoint Abner Curtis sole Executor
of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking
all former wills by me made. in witness where-
of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
twenty eighth day of December in the year of
our LORD Eighteen hundred and fourteen.
